2008 Asian Themed Co-ed Birthday

The asian themed lunch worked well for a shared birthday party for a 6 year old boy and a 2 year old girl who had the same birth date.

Lunch was a build your own, homemade, asian style menu of stir fry veggies, lo mein and fried rice with chicken or tofu to add in. Fried noodles, fortune cookies, sushi and oranges were also on the menu.

Goody bags / boxes for kids and adults included ginger cookies, sesame candies and preserved plums. Chop sticks for those game enough to try them and a Chinese calligraphy sheet to copy.

The kids chose their own themes for the cakes - Dora's Backpack for the 2-year old and an Ipod for the 6-year old.

Can you believe I forgot to take a close up picture before it was cut?!! Chocolate cake with cherry filling, frosted in lavender. The characters were done free hand and filled in with colored sugar.

The Ipod was a pineapple cake. The entire cake was covered in clear crystal sugar and the blue zones are colored sugar.

2008 Fruits of the Spirit

This cake featured the fruits of the spirit as the branches of the tree -

Love, Peace, Joy, Gentleness, Self Control, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Patience
The theme, Christian Women United in the Spirit, was lettered around the sides of the cake

2008 I Will Bee...

For Adventurer Sabbath the theme was "I Will Be... " so I made a 4 tier beehive cake. Each layer was a different flavor.

The bees are piped frosting with slivered almond wings and a chocolate chip head.

2008 Shuttle Cake

This was my first hand carved shaped cake. I had a lot of fun getting the shape just right.

2008 A Church Wedding

The whole church put on this wedding. I was priviledged to assist with the decor. I didn't bake this cake but I did stage it.

2008 Golf Birthday

What do you plan for a 4 year old obsessed with golf?

A Golf Birthday Party of course!!

Invites to the annual Invitational were hand delivered and sported a photo of the birthday boy.

When guests arrived they were handed their personal score card and invited to join the fun - coloring golf related photos and then everyone enjoyed a round or two on the 4 hole putt-putt inspired course in the backyard. Each hole had themes significant to the birthday boy - TV Friends, Cars, Board Games and "Holes other than Golf".

The par 4, 4th hole cake, including the requested sand trap, served as dessert to a clubhouse style meal of gourmet burgers and hotdogs.

Before departure, guests took green screen photos with the birthday boy to be digitally joined later by a famous golfer or two.

Thank you cards were a re-vamp of the score cards, personally signed by the birthday boy.
